Mutt's Queue

I'm curious, where does Mutt queue it's outgoing mail before being sent?
On dial-up now, after cable modem, I'm having problems figuring out if
my mail is going out correctly or not. Or, is this, rather, a function
of sendmail (my mta)? 

I'd like to be able to "see" the q'd mail get sent out, rather than just
assuming it has.
