need macro help ... [rebinding 'y']

Hi all,

I want to rebind 'y' [send msg] to check for spelling and then send the message.
I added the following to my mutt config:

        macro index y |/usr/local/bin/ispell "Checking For Spelling"

This does not work and seems wrong. Can someone give me a helping hand to solve
this macro. Or even point me to a section of the manuall that describes how to
do such a task [I've looked and not had any luck].
