German Umlauts and Scrolling

Hi,

I got a strange problem here:

Suppose I got a new mail, which text includes german umlauts.

I open the mail and all umlauts are diplayed as "\xxx" ( x = [0-9]).

Now I scroll the text off screen (using vim and mrxvt) and back again
and TADA! the umlaust are displayed correctly.

Typing umlauts is no problem at all.

 Any clue, why utf9 is scroll-sensitive ? :-/

 Keep hacking!
