Tag all new messages, set them to "read", and sync your mailbox.
Under default keybindings, I believe you can do this with:
T (to tag all messages matching a pattern)
~N (the pattern matching "all new messages")
<enter> (to tag 'em)
; (to make the next command apply to all tagged messages)
N (to toggle the New flag)
$ (to sync the flags to the server)
If they're already marked Old, you just have to do that trick twice,
and use the ~O pattern instead of ~N.
