| applications such as mutt which have a list of the color names - and

Thanks for the clarification.
Regarding the addition of more colors to ncurses, I think
it's a great idea, though I'm not sure how many people are
actually asking for it. I'm a terminal fan ... except for
web browsers and other things dealing with graphics, I try
to do all my text-related stuff in xterm. Thus, I like it
when I can do syntax coloring in vim with additional colors.
And I would also like to see that happen in mutt :)
