Regardless what your ^b is set to the .mailcap will only open _attachments_ with the type text/html message/html with w3m. You are wanting to look at UrlView (I guess that is what your ^b is assigned to). If you try and view a HTML mail you will get w3m behaviour with this setup. (He says with fingers crossed!) S.
