Do you see this problem with other error or status messages as well?
Nothing obvious jumps out as being wrong with the progress bar in
specific.
Another thing to try is making sure you compilied with --enable-debug and
run mutt -d 1. Look in ~/.muttdebug0 and it should print out the string
that Mutt is trying to display in the status line. Do you see the same
errors there? That will help narrow down whether it is a problem with
curses or with Mutt's string formatting.
