 You are both right, of course. When using the browser or when entering the
 path manually, you can complete the path and then it can also contain
 spaces.

 I encountered this issue with a very long and cryptic path generated by
 some third party software that I copy'n pasted into the terminal running
 mutt. It was then that mutt dropped the spaces from the path and it was
 not possible to add them afterwards. I almost never use the file browser
 whence it did not occur to me that I could navigate to the file this way.
 And entering the file manually was too error prone since the path had some
 long numbers (with other, similarly named files / directories in the the
 same directory). So I ended up copying the file in another terminal to the
 tmp folder.

 Bottom line: It is indeed a minor issue, but I think it is counter-
 intuitive that you cannot paste filenames with space characters, not even
 if the are \-escaped.
