Any chance that the patch by grobian makes it into the next release?
I face the same issue since I upgraded my ports (macports on MacOS 10.5)
today to mutt-devel@xxxxxxxx and gpgme@xxxxxxxx mutt quits every time I
try to open an email that causes the crypto backend to be invoked.
