I see that you're running 1.5.18, I'd suggest you to upgrade to the
karmic version (1.5.20-4) which is coming straight from Debian and
includes many fixes backported from the current tip.

Then if it's still reproducible it makes sense to investigate :-) the
best would be to run tip but I would try 1.5.20-4 first
