There are other warts mentioned in passing in this bug report, but the
basic issue is that you're polling too many mailboxes. Likely things were
actually broken before (imap_home_namespace=~/mail/ was probably causing a
lot of bogus STATUS requests), when imap_home_namespace was being used.
The proper fix here is to trim your mailboxes list or, if you use
imap_check_subscribed, unsubscribe from some folders. I'm closing this
bug as a local config issue.
