Hmmm. This seems like a bug (or at least, I don't see a way around it,
so I'm cc'ing mutt-dev; maybe they know more).
So, the reason this happens is that the space key cycles through all
of the mailboxes with new mail. Try it by hand - you can't get into
"=Sent Messages" by typing it in, because as soon as you press the
space-bar, it deletes what you had.
The way I think this *should* work is that the space-bar should only
cycle if it is the *first* character you press.
