 No. :)
 
 So, <limit> with an empty argument should not show all messages
 if you mind the inconsistency. I thought the current behavior was
 intuitive for beginners, and my patch was applied at revision
 3.15 in pattern.c. See bug#1854.
 
 ...But I don't like inconsistency now.
