I think you sent the putty terminfo file ;)

It's Sun's curses (which I think is a version of ncurses)

It's similar, but not the same.  Though it seems that most of the curses
apps I'm using on Solaris are linked with ncurses (vile, ded, mutt, lynx),
they're relatively stable.  Solaris curses has trouble with some other
terminals such as Tera Term, but should handle putty (I think).

Double-spacing like that could mean a problem with handling the right margin, so I wanted to check that your terminfo lists "bw" for instance
(which is a potential issue in comparion with xterm).
