Do you get anything when you type "bt" at the gdb prompt?

It might also be useful to know which OS and platform this is running on.

An alternative to running from within gdb is to make sure that your shell
isn't preventing core-dumps. If "ulimit -c" shows 0 or anything small, try
"ulimit -c 30000000". 30MB should be enough for mutt to dump in. ;-)

(I should mention that I probably can't fix your problem, I'm just trying to
make sure the people who can have enough info)
