display of CP-1258

Hello,

I have a strange problem displaying a CP-1258 (Vietnamese) mail in
French on a Latin-1 terminal with $charset=iso-8859-1. The attached 1258
mail has some accents. Most are convertible to L1 so displayed OK. And
there is one lowercase oe ligature (½) coded 0x9C: This doesn't exist in
L1, so Mutt displays it as a question mark. OK. Should be 2 lines:

| Méilleurs v?ux à tous !
| Je peux éventuellement me rendre disponible.

    But I get one line:

| Méilleurs v?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Just like if every char after the non-existant one (including \n)
was changed to a question mark. Strange.

This is with Mutt 1.4 and 1.5.5.1, Libiconv 1.9.1 and 1.9.2,
-HAVE_WC_FUNCS, PuTTY in L1 mode or Linux terminal, $charset=iso-8859-1,
LC_CTYPE="fr_FR.iso-8859-1".

Notes: Display on a terminal with ½ (Latin-9 or UTF-8) is fully OK.
Display on a L1 term with $charset=iso-8859-1//TRANSLIT is also OK
("v½ux" changed to "voeux"). Mail <edit-type>d to other charsets of the
CP-125x serie displays OK where possible, but the 1258 and also 1255.
And iconv -c of these strings seems OK (½ eaten, further chars OK).

Can you reproduce that? Someone has an idea what's wrong?

Bye! Alain.
