[bug report] mutt 1.5.4i with --disable-pgp

mutt 1.5.4i
Problem confirmed on SCO OSR507 and Redhat 8.0

If --disable-pgp is specified and gcc (v2.95.3 on SCO, v3.2 on Redhat)
is used to build mutt, piping input to mutt, e.g., finger | mutt <user>,
results in an empty message (i.e. headers only) in the recipients
mailbox.

Also, when replying to a message, or forwarding a message and responding
no to the "Forward as attachment?" prompt, mutt *sometimes* does not
quote/include all of the message text being replied to or forwarded.
This seems to happen only on long messages but I did not do extensive
testing to confirm at what length the message must be for it to happen,
or if the message length is related at all.

If --disable-pgp is specified and SCO's cc is used to build mutt, the
link phase results in these errors:

Without --disable-pgp, there are no problems.
I did not see these issues with mutt 1.4.1i.
