Search for this IMAP problem within mutt I came across the mutt-user thread:
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=mutt-users&m=104006499622024&w=2
This discribes the problem very well.
I use IMAP to connect to the companys exchange server, but due to limits placed
on the amount of storage space for email, the team I work with setup our own
IMAP server for archiving of older messages. I store all sent and deleted
messages
second IMAP server along with a few mailing lists. When I leave mutt running
idle or do not delete/send any email for a 30 minutes. The connection to the
second IMAP server will drop and will not reconnect. This requires me to exit
mutt and restart it. If I forgot to do this after lunch and attempt to send
a mail without restarting mutt before hand I am unable to send do mutt not
being able to make a copy in my Sent box.
