Well,
I use imaps and here is what happens when the server certificate is found in
the certificate_file file : there is "V" before any character that I enter in
the password prompt.
Here is the log (I just press enter) :

So I have to press backspace _before_ entering effecively my password and it
worked.
It works fine when there is no certificate in the file (ie first time !) or
when the certificate_file is undefined.
