Dear colleague,
In the past you have received news on science & technology

We are launching a quarterly e-newsletter: "OECD Information and
Communication Policy News", which I thought you may wish to receive.

so, please <http://www.oecd.org/sti/ict/newsletter/register>

International OECD Conference on 'The Future Digital Economy: Digital
content: Creation, Access and distribution'
Digital content is increasingly important across all media and
publishing
industries and pervasive in the public sector, education and health.
Rapid
changes in value chains for digital content development, production,
delivery and use and the creation of new commercial business models are
posing new policy challenges for business and governments. Over eighty
speakers and four hundred participants from business, government,
content
producers and users and research debated the rapid development and
use of
digital content in this ground-breaking conference. Web streams and
<http://www.oecd.org/sti/digitalcontent/conference> presentations, as
well
as summary <http://www.oecd.org/dataoecd/54/35/36854745.pdf> and
digital
content <http://www.oecd.org/dataoecd/54/36/36854975.pdf> policy
paper are
available. The OECD also recently held a workshop

access and commercial re-use of public sector

Workshop and multidisciplinary project on the Future of the Internet
Policy-makers, leading academics, private sector and civil society
organisations discussed the trends

5/0,2340,en_2649_34223_36169989_1_1_1_1,00.htm
l> shaping the future of the Internet, explored the various approaches
-technical, economic, and regulatory- that can be taken to create new
functionality, new uses and increased trust in the Internet, to
promote its
sustained growth and adoption, and to identify opportunities for
increased
international cooperation on pressing issues.
This workshop is the beginning of the ICCP's multidisciplinary
project on
the Future of the Internet which will analyse and draw policy
messages on
three far-reaching trends:
1. The Internet is becoming the global platform to deliver content with
convergence towards IP for voice, video and data services;
2. The Internet is an essential element in the socio-economic
infrastructure of OECD and world economies, and a catalyst for
globalisation
and;
3. As our dependence on the Internet increases, so does the need to
maintain its integrity, to maintain it as a trusted system, and to
promote
its use.
