Dear Colleagues,


The National Coordination Office (NCO) for Networking and Information  
Technology R&D is pleased to announce the release of the Federal Plan  
for Cyber Security and Information Assurance Research and  
Development.  The Federal Plan, a report of the National Science and  
Technology Council (NSTC), presents a coordinated interagency  
framework for addressing critical gaps in current cyber security and  
information assurance capabilities and technologies that is based on  
interagency priorities.  The press release for the Federal Plan is  
attached.  The electronic pre-print of the Federal Plan is now  
available for download at the NCO’s Web site, http://www.nitrd.gov.   
Requests for printed copies of the Federal Plan (expected to be  
available in May) may also be submitted at the NCO’s Web site.


We welcome your comments on this Federal Plan.  In particular, input  
to assist the NSTC in taking action on Recommendation #7—“Develop a  
roadmap for Federal cyber security and information assurance R&D”— 
would be especially useful at this time.  Please send your comments  
to csia-plan-comments@xxxxxxxxx by April 28, 2006 so that they could  
be considered in the planning of next steps.
