My take is that China is simply forcing the issue
on an inevitability.
The world has been technically able to build and operate a
poly-orthographic, poly-root DNS for a long time, but denying
this reality has been a financial and political expedient for
a privileged few who have benefited from their, ahem, "positions
of exclusivity".
so instead of making friends, the players were busy making enemies.
hence, nobody should be surprised by what happens next, now that the
time has come to reap what has been sewn.
"Sorry, Game Over. Thanks for playing. No more quarters accepted."
