Dave,

I'm a Federal grants systems specialist and wrote about this at
http://blog.tcg.com a while ago -- there's more background material
there, too, for those interested.

Last Friday Grants.gov released an RFI to get input from industry before
recompeting Northrop Grumman's contract. In it they say they're open to
better options than the PureEdge forms which are causing all the Mac
compatibility problems. Interesting timing...!

Also, the project's sysdev cost is $22 million (not the "billions"
stated in the Post).

Cheers,
Dave

Dr. Farber,

As an IT Employee at a research institution who just finished working to
get my local Mac users up and running on the Pure Edge platform, I can
say, the process of getting it working was annoying - but it is
possible - grants.gov has made a Citrix server available for public use
for the application, has provided links to the Citrix web to allow
people to download the client, and has provided a Citrix profile which will
allow pretty much anyone to access the grants.gov citrix server.

The downside, however, was the the profile that was being distributed on
their website was (as of last week) incorrectly built, and had to be
edited (by myself, working with their support staff) to make it work. I
don't know if they've updated the profile available for download on the
website or not, fixing the profile is a matter of changing a singe line
in the .ica file in a text editor, and pointing the IE session that
loads up when you establish the Citrix connection to a different link.

I don't personally use the application, but I have seen it at least load
in a Citrix session on a Mac. That being the case, and assuming that
the PureEdge application itself is functional, there's no particular
reason to assume it won't work under Citrix.
