And my thought is:

"Boys and girls, if a teacher so much as mentions intelligent design
or creationism, or that the Earth is only 6000 years old, "you put
your hand up and you say, 'Excuse me, were you there?' Can you
remember that?"

I suspect I would tear into a student who gave such an intellectually
vacuous comment in class... but then again, I deal with college
students who are sometimes quite intellectually vacuous so I have
been trained to deal with this.
