Another example of depending upon accidental properties of the legacy
telecom systems. And another reason to take responsibility for your
own email by using third parties or the mail servers that come with
XP or Unix systems.
Too bad reporters don't ask question such as whether the legislatures
understand that you don’t need a phone company to make a phone call
and you don’t need a PTT to send email.
Telecoms required to save logs of e-mail
BRUSSELS, Belgium—EU justice and interior ministers agreed Friday on
plans that would require telecommunications companies to retain
records of phone calls and e-mails for a minimum of six months for
use in investigations of terrorism and other serious crimes.
