Dave —
Global climate change is very real. The climate, like all other
natural processes, is dynamic. That said, the level of human-sourced
contribution to the degree of climate change is what's actually open
to question. The largest contributor to global climate variation is
sitting at the center of the solar system, not on our freeways.
One of the things we should really be putting some thinking into is
pretty much kept off the table by Lawton and others. If humans are
such contributors to global warming, then why are the polar caps
shrinking ... on Mars?
NASA JPL recently released some additional information on this
particular wrinkle in the climate change debate, including photo
series taken over a period of years, illustrating the changes quite
dramatically.
I've also noted that the news stories on hurricane frequency and
intensity from the climate change influence side of the story tend to
show statistics beginning in the 70s or 80s. Things were more
intense on the cycle during the 40s and 50s, but that seems not to
get mentioned when the underlying theme is to blame the intensity and
frequency today on global warming.
