Subject: FEMA web site
I really can't stand this ... after yesterday's notes to IP about
misconfigured
mail servers (Craig Partridge rightfully pointed out that just having
an A
record is fine though there are definitely some huge issues with
running a
sadly out-of-date sendmail) and misconfigured web servers, I thought
I'd do
a little investigation.
I ran a series of link validity and other checks on the fema web
site, and
there are definitely a very large number of broken links or internal
system
errors. But, the part that I just can't believe is this:
1. Go to http://www.fema.gov/index2.shtm (their main page after the
Katrina
"splash page."
2. Click on "contact us" at the bottom, which is a link to
http://www.fema.gov/feedback/
For at least twenty-four hours, from several different hosts and
OS's, I've
been getting this:
trystero:~ carl$ wget --server-response http://www.fema.gov/feedback/
--09:03:08-- http://www.fema.gov/feedback/
=> `index.html'
Connecting to www.fema.gov:80... connected!
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 403 Forbidden
2 Server: Apache
3 Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1
4 Date: Thu, 15 Sep 2005 13:03:09 GMT
5 Connection: close
6
09:03:08 ERROR 403: Forbidden.
Bleah.
