As noted on my rights management blog
http://www.managingrights.com/2005/06/is_drm_in_the_e.html
another Intel spokesperson says that there is no embedded DRM but
rather support for the Digital Transmission Content Protection (DTCP)
which has been around for a while and, among other things, authenticates
the device on the other end as have the capabilities to "play nicely."
Another possibility is that there is memory on the dual core Pentium D
that can be used to store cryptographic information. That capability
would, IMHO, be more important than a unique chip ID since it would
raise the work factor required to compromise system and DRM security.
