I work for a competitor of RSA and I read this and chuckled a bit.

RSA has made a some nice money licensing patents that cover
proprietary crypto algorithms or techniques.
Also note that RSA's two factor authentication token uses a
proprietary algorithm for which there are non-proprietary (and
apparently unencumbered) alternatives available.
I want to assume that either the interview wasn't properly represented
or Mr. Juels misspoke.
