I've seem claims that the memos must be forgeries because of the
proportional spacing used, and that word processors did not begin to
use proportional spacing until the 1980's at the earliest.
Those not old enough to know (but clearly old enough to criticize
without appropriate knowledge) can now learn that the IBM Executive
typewriters, widely sold and used in the 1950's and the 1960's before
even the advent of the Selectric ball and later daisy wheel printing
technologies, employed proportional spacing. By the 1970's, when the
memos were written, they could well have been retained in National
Guard offices.
