[IP] more on another Member of Congress on no-fly list eply-To:
The final paragraph is a serious concern. If two hill people get
fingered and have problems getting off, what is the reliability of the
don't fly list (actually pretty poor and what is the usefulness in
preventing terrorists (pretty poor) and what should people thing of the
measures their government is taking to protect them (not much).

John Lewis has been my Congressman for 18 years. He is a great American
hero.
This is the same John Lewis who marched with Dr. Martin Luther King and
was
beaten bloody on the Selma march in the 1960s.
No matter how supportive folks may be about the list, news like this
greatly
reduces its credibility, and hurts the credibility of our domestic
security
effort.
It's a thin line between targeting "terrorists" as enemies and
targeting all
those in the other political party as enemies. Many millions of
Americans
feel the Bush Administration crossed this line long ago, and things like
this reinforce that .
I think even the most conservative members of this list must admit that
putting Democratic Congressmen and Senators on "watch lists" hurts the
reputation of our security, makes more people suspicious of our security
services and, in the end, does terrible damage to our security
interests.

It seems Ted Kennedy's not the only Member of Congress to get on the
no-fly
list; however, Kennedy is apparently the only one to get *off*.
Interesting that being in the House of Representatives is insufficient
to get one's name removed.
