Subj: IP post led to Costa Rica trip -- magazine article

Hi Dave,

An email from Jim Warren that you posted to the list on Feb. 18 about the
outsourcing of surgical procedures started me on an investigation of
"health tourism" for personal reasons. I ended up having extensive and
necessary dental work done by some fine doctors in Costa Rica -- work that
I had given up on being able to afford in the U.S.

My dental work -- six root canals, 14 crowns and everything that went with
those things -- cost a little more than $8,000. Based on my research, I
estimate the work would have cost somewhere between $19,000 and $33,000
here in Connecticut.

Could I have gotten it done even cheaper? I have no doubt the answer is
yes. But the dentists who worked on my mouth specialize in full mouth
reconstruction and see several cases as challenging as mine every week. I
am happy with my choice and the results.

I wrote a lengthy article about it, which further defrayed my costs. ;-)
It's the May 23 cover story of Northeast, the Sunday magazine section of
the Hartford (Connecticut) Courant. The article mentions IP, you and Jim.

It's online at http://www.ctnow.com/northeast/ ... click on "A New Smile"
(cover story) at the top of the page. Free registration required,
unfortunately.

The full direct link is:

I have no problem with you excerpting or forwarding any part of what's
there.

And thanks to both Jim and you for the lead. ;-)

Jeff Schult
