Sexy Whitehouse.com domain for sale
By Frank Barnako, CBS.MarketWatch.com
Last Update: 3:08 PM ET Feb 11, 2004
WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- The man who owns Whitehouse.com wants to come
clean.
The site is visited monthly by as many as two million people, many of
whom are surprised to find it is a portal for adult entertainment. The
"real" White House Web site is Whitehouse.gov.
Dan Parisi said he created the site originally to be "a place for
uncensored discussion on governmental policies." However, he
subsequently licensed the domain to a European firm that operates it
currently. The current home page proclaims the site is the worldwide
leader in adult and political entertainment. "Our candidates are better
looking," it adds.
Whitehouse.com attracts over 2 million visitors a month and generates
more than $1 million in revenue a year, according to a news release.
Parisi explained that since launching it in 1997, he's become a parent,
"and no longer care to be involved in the adult content world."
Furthermore, he will not permit its sale to anyone in the adult
entertainment industry.
Parisi said, "I believe it is time to give the Whitehouse.com domain
back to the people. I believe people have the right to speak their mind
on political issues."
