Indeed punch-card balloting is unfair, but how about handwriting?

Japanese voters should write the candidate's name manually by pencils.
So a lot of election operators have to sit up all night to open the
ballots and verify them, because there are many errors in writing and
reading.

Japan is the only one OECD country that adopts such an antiquated method.
Although this method was once abolished, it was restored by old politicians
who believed that handwriting would be favorable for familiar names.

When I told this to an American friend, he was surprised, laughed, and said
that the US government should export the old punch-card ballot systems
to Japan.

>They are delaying the recall to move in electronic voting... yikes!
