[ga] 3rd Lawsuit Against VeriSign Seeks Class Action
All former DNSO GA members or other stakeholders/users,
FYI, See: http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/09/27/1337229
and http://news.com.com/2100-1038_3-5083161.html
Excerpts:
"The new class-action suit, filed by longtime Internet litigator Ira
Rothken on behalf of a California e-mail and device synchronization
software provider, said VeriSign is abusing its power over the domain
name system. "
and...
"VeriSign's redirection of .com and .net traffic not only is earning, or
is intended to earn, profits for VeriSign, but it subverts the basic
infrastructure of the Internet, to the detriment of numerous entities,"
the suit says. "VeriSign's actions have exceeded and continue to exceed
the scope of its authorized monopoly status--its establishment of
SiteFinder redirection service was not acting in compliance with
any clearly articulated government program, and it was not acting at the
direction or with the consent of any federal agency."
==================================================
It would again seem that ICANN and it's legal "Team" which
in a "Deal" seeded yet again too much leway in it's contractual
arrangments with Verisign, as was warrned against my our
[INEGroup] members, as well as many other participating
DNSO GA members at that time. It also seems fairly clear
that as was warrned durring the formation of the seeding
of .COM to Verisign in paratuity was "Sold" to the
DOC/NTIA by the staff and BoD of ICANN. Now
it seems that the stakeholders/users are beginning to see
how poorly ICANN than as now, is managing it's duties
and keeping its stated promisess to stakeholders/users...
