Subject: a public pharmaceutical company
the american public is being taken for the "proverbial ride" by its
pharmaceutical companies exorbitant prices and profits. they have more
money invested in advertising than research and they are supported by
public funds in that research that gives them exclusive patent rights
that push the prices to unrealistic highs. our politicians are owned
by their lobbies and they give protection to them through their laws.
if free trade is so important to the politicians why is it that we
can't purchase our prescriptions from canada or overseas at supposed
"cheap" prices? ( its ok to send our jobs overseas to give us cheaper
products at home). due to the importance of health the world over,
the idea of a pharmaceutical company solely owned by the people of the
world, non-government, non-private, non-profit (without ultra high
paid executives) is an idea whose time has come.
