I am concerned that the agenda now has been expanded to deal
with positions proffered by the BC .
Am I missing something here?
Was this committee specifically empowered by the
Council to exceed the charge given to it by the Board..
Where are we going with this?

Subject: [council] Proposed agenda for
call Thursday Feb 6
Council et al, the first telephone conference of the
gTLDs committee takes place tomorrow Thursday Feb 6 at 14.00 UTC (i.e. the
usual time for Council calls). Dial in is 1-702-851-3330 , code
35790.
The call should last around one hour as it is intended to
be a planning and status checking plus first broad discussion on principles.
The agenda is below. 1. Round table of each constituency on progress on
agreeing constituency positions (deadline March 1). 2. Agreement to
working schedule of the committee. 3. Discussion on broad principles for
gTLDs - should there be any new ones ever? - if yes, should there be
structure? - if yes, what ? - should ICANN establish criteria for gTLDs
and registries and then accept applicants who meet the criteria or continue
with current practice (agreeing to gTLDs in discrete lots)? - should
qualified registries be free to operate the back-end of multiple gTLDs in the
future?
