VULNERABILITY SUMMARY
A potential security vulnerability has been identified in HP-UX running System 
Administration Manager (SAM). This vulnerability may allow unintended remote 
access.

HP-UX B.11.11 and B.11.23 running SAM.

Using SAM to configure NFS may result in unintended configurations. Read-only 
or read-write access to selected systems may be specified with an empty systems 
list. This may result in unintended access to all systems. After applying the 
patches listed below SAM will detect this condition and alert the user. 


RESOLUTION

HP is documenting the following actions the following patches to resolve the 
vulnerability.

HP-UX Release - HP-UX B.11.11 (11i v1)
Action - Install PHCO_36562 or subsequent; change NFS configuration as needed
 
HP-UX Release - HP-UX B.11.23 (11i v2)
Action - Install PHCO_36563 or subsequent; change NFS configuration as needed
 

Note: The patch will warn the user when a requested change may create an 
unintended NFS configuration. The patch will not detect or change unintended 
NFS configurations.
