- --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Package : gzip
Vulnerability : insecure temporary files
Problem-Type : local
Debian-specific: no
CVE ID : CAN-2004-0970
BugTraq ID : 11288

Trustix developers discovered insecure temporary file creation in
supplemental scripts in the gzip package which may allow local users
to overwrite files via a symlink attack.

For the stable distribution (woody) these problems have been fixed in
version 1.3.2-3woody3.

The unstable distribution (sid) is not affected by these problems.

We recommend that you upgrade your gzip package.

If you are using the apt-get package manager, use the line for
sources.list as given below:

apt-get update

You may use an automated update by adding the resources from the
footer to the proper configuration.
