[alac] Africa At-Large Users Meeting in Cape Town



ICANN's Interim At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) invites all interested individuals to attend the Africa At-Large Users meeting on Thursday, 2 December 10:00 am – 12:30, at the Cape Town Convention Centre to advance the interests of individual Internet user communities (At-Large).  The meeting will feature:  a discussion of how the ongoing United Nations’ Internet governance process could affect Africa Internet users; a briefing on AfriNIC’s plans for transitioning management of Internet resources to local control and roll-out of IPV6; a briefing on changes in domain name registration policies and practices that will affect Africa’s Internet users; and an update on opportunities for Africa’s user community to engage in ICANN and other international fora to advance their interests.  A preliminary agenda is included below.  Participation is free and all are welcome.

Additional events at the ICANN Cape Town meetings that will be of special interest to Internet users include: Workshop on the World Summit Information Society (WSIS), Wednesday, 1 December 2004, 8:30 – 10:30; and Workshop on Internationalized Domain Names, Wednesday, 1 December 2004, 13:00 – 19:30.
