The ITU is organizing a workshop on Internet Governance in late February,
in Geneva:
http://www.itu.int/osg/spu/forum/intgov04/
It is a closed workshop in which the ITU will discuss its position in
respect to the outcome of WSIS and to the future UN-organized working
group on the matter.
However, the organizers have decided to invite selected experts from users
and civil society groups - and I have just received a notice of an
incoming invitation to my person.
I will possibly accept the invitation, as we have to use any possible
chance to ensure that user participation will remain on the map of any
future Internet governance mechanism, and this is going to be a good one
to do so.
I don't know yet whether I would be supposed to give a presentation, to
participate in a panel, or what else. Anyway, according to what we think,
I could also use this chance to advertise ourselves and our work.
Since participation will be closed, in case anyone is interested, the only
possible way for participation by other ALAC members would be getting an
invitation through other channels, possibly an ITU member (either
government or corporate).
